I replaced the lower unit on my boat. I have never done any work on an outboard before. Put the lower unit on and it overheated with 10 minutes while on the flusher in the driveway. I pulled the lower unit and checked the water pump. While re-installing the lower unit it would not go all the way up. Took it off and found that I had not put the copper water tube in the proper hole and bent up the copper tube. I straighted the copper tube to where it was round again.
I started the engine up in the flusher today and I have good water pressure (I never thought to look at the water pressure before pulling the lower unit after it overheated) But I noticed there was water coming out of the front drain hole in the front of the engine where the lower unit and center section meet. I need to know if that is normal? Does the water pump tube completely seal at the water pump housing?
You guys are great, thanks for all the help..............
