    Long Idle Times and E-Tech?

Looking at buying a used 2004 Triton Tr-196 DC with E-tech 200hp. What I would like to know is how these motors handle long idle times. I fish in Canada once a year where we troll most of the time. My Merc has handled it great and I have never owned an Evinrude. Just wondering how they might match up?

Post the model number and serial number on the motor. There were a couple of service bulletins that fixed the spark plug life issue on the very early V-6 E-TECs. Once those bulletins were addressed or with a later production motor, they would idle all day and run well.

Whoa! IF it's an '04 it is not an E-TEC. That's why we insist you read RULE #1

The motor is an Evinrude 200 HO serial #0504492 mounted on a TR19. Telling you that it is an E-tech was my bad. As I am new to "rudes" I am learning. Always had "mercs" before. So if you must than you may subject me to taunts, laughter, shunning, ridicule, and generally being made fun of. I have been warned!

Overall how would you rate this motor, reliable/ dependable and even fuel usage. Could it be a deal breaker if I decide to buy this boat?

OK, I'll do the taunts and the laughter, who is up to doing the shunning and ridicule? Everybody around here participates in the "making fun of"
