    2004 Johnson 175??

    Model #: J175GL
    Serial #: G05057241
Can hours be pulled on this motor? Any recalls to know about or issues? I have found out to trim the motor all the way down and under to crank. Seems to be very sensitive to trim angle when cranking.

Nope no EMM on a carbed motor. sounds like it could be a sticking float in a bowl or vapor seperator. Take off your airbox and check the position of the primer solenoid should be pointing straight down.

The carbed engines are usually very reliable engines. Like any need to upkeep 'em.
