    Carb Float Question

Quick question. I'm rebuilding my carbs and at the reassembly point. When putting the bottom carb back together, I noticed the floats don't seem to sit right. Seems to me they should be the same height. Notice in this pic how you can see one but not the other.

    What do you think?

    Thanks in advance.

This is also my first time doing this. Not nearly as bad as I thought. Only 2 oops moments, which will hopefully be remedied tomorrow.

You will need to properly adjust the tangs on the floats.

Also note: It's VERY critical that the proper sealing washer be installed on the SEAT. If you leave out the washer, use the wrong washer, or fail to properly tighten down the seat, it will throw off the float setting (and may LEAK).

    Engine serial number?

    Re: Carb Float Question (EuropeanAM)

Serial # is 0b219981. I used the washer that came with the needle seat kit. And I tightened it down pretty darn good. Another question for you....the gasket kit came with 6 washer type gaskets. I used 4 so I have 2 left over. I replaced whatever I removed. Is there supposed to be 2 extra?

I went back out and adjusted the tabs after my 1st post. I just thought it was interesting how much off it was.

The gasket kit covers a wide-variety of different carb models... and it's not uncommon to have extra seals/fiber-washers.

    Thanks Don!!!

One more questions for you if I may?

    - should I or is it recommended to replace the hoses running between the carbs when rebuilding the carbs?

    Thanks
    Erick

    Re: Carb Float Question (erick85)

Certainly a good idea- especially if the hoses are deteriorated, worn, breaking down, etc.
