I damaged my skeg a while back and want to fix it. I was told by Don, that any boat that runs over 55mph should have a new gearcase. Unfortunatly my insurance adjuster would only estimate for a weld on skeg at $200 wich didn't get past the deduct.

So I would like to buy a used case from the classifieds and swap the guts from my lower. I have done a backyard rebuild on a J/E gearcase and winged it on the pinion depth etc because I didn't have the special tools.

I would like to do it right so what do I need? The motor is a 2001 225 EFI, Low water pickup case. Don't have serial# at the moment but will get it if needed.
