I don't think it's supposed to look this way lol.

Pulled my head off today to inspect the damage.

How long did you keep running the motor when it started to run poorly and lose power? Did you give it a blast of full throttle to see if it would clear up first?

Possible didn't see anything obvious. I just had a stator put on. They had to reglue a few magnets on and then he reset the timing doing a lync and sync. That was the first time out afterwards...

I wonder how he set the timing?

All that damage did not happen in 5 seconds, that motor was not running right for quite a whle before the piston disintegrated. You didn't feel that something was wrong or unusual ?

It came from the shop and the next day was the tourny. We let it idle for about 10 or 15 minutes talking to others waiting for launch time. We launched and everything was normal. I was 2nd or 3rd boat in line heading up the lake. I was turning 5600rpm @ 58mph. We ran a mile or 2 and all the sudden I felt it nose over a little. I looked down and the tach was at 5000rpm. I trimed it up a little and picked up 100rpm then all the sudden it just lost power, fell of plane and died. I floated out of the way praying not to get run over by the train of boats behind me. I cranked it over and heard the sucking sound and new it was gone. It real was that quick.
