    Water Drip

Hello all. I have a 1995 procraft v180b. I went to install a new transducer, as i removed old transducer some water dripped out of one of the screw holes. It probably dripped a pint or so over the next 24hrs after it started, then stopped. I drilled into that hole and found it wet inside. So i drilled around that hole about an inch away (right or wrong) from wet hole and found no sign of water in those holes, all dry. Do i need to be concerned? I used plenty of 5200 this time around on all holes. please help ease my mind. I cannot afford a new boat right now.

    Re: Water Drip (fishmarker)

I wouldn't be every concerned. Might think of keeping the boat out of the water for a days to give the holes a few days to dry out. I would then get this stuff call marine-tex, awesome product, and pack those holes full. I have heard that some people when they pull a transducer off they put new sealant back on the screws and just run them back in a leave them. I also so on ship shape TV, the host pulled some transom holes with a wooden dole covered in epoxy and hammered it into the hole. I think that is a bit overboard, I would coat the threads of some stainless screws with marine tex and run them in and i think you would be fine.

Thanks for the reply. I opened hole back up and ordered some marine-tex. Thank you for easing my mind.
