I was talking to an authorized ETECH mechanic last week on a fishing trip about the miss that I have in my 225HO between 1000 and 2000 rpm. He gave me the same answer that Seahorse told me about cleaning the exhaust sensor fitting and also told me to put some decarbon mixture in one of my tanks (32Gal) at doublestrength to "shock the engine". I have not cleaned the exhaust sensor fitting yet but i did the decarb and it seemd to help a good bit. He said that when I cleaned the sensor if the problem did not go away that he had to do the following on a few of what he called older motors (Etechs) like this. He siad that some of these engines had an internal heat problem and melted the center diverder plate in the Exhaustn Housing, inner, upper. This is part # 5001496. He said that Evinrude was aware of the problem and that he had replaced 4 or more of these and it had cured this problem. Have any of you heard about this before? If so do you think I should purse this if cleaning the fitting does not stop the problem. he sid the head had to be removed and he had to get permission from Evin. do do the work because it was only able to tell if this is the problem by looking at the part.
