    Question for ChampioNman or Seahorse..

I'm wondering if the oil flow can be adjusted on my 1999 Evinrude 175 Ficht? The reason I'm asking is because I filled my oil tank on Friday evening, went to the lake on Saturday morning, and Saturday evening when I left the oil level in my tank was about 1 inch lower. Going by my gas gauge, I used about 5 to 6 gallons of gas in the course of the day. Does this sound like it's using too much oil? It isn't smoking and it isn't running out of the hub. I'm using Evinrude XD50..

No adjustments for oil flow. If the recirculating oil pressure gets too high from a bad regulator or kinked line or something, you can blow oil throught the injector and use more, but you will see a large soot buildup on the back of the motor and inside the prop hub.

I don't have any buildup on the back of the motor and the hub of the prop seems to be the normal gray/black. When you say a bad regulator, what regulator are you talking about? I checked all of the lines, and none appeared to be kinked or pinched. The sending uniit and filter in my oil tank is brand new. It came with the kit I bought to connect my 1993 wiring to the 1999 motor. The only change I made to my oil tank was I had to make a hole for the "RETURN' oil hose to go into. I can't find the post, but I thought I read one a while back similar to this one. Someone mentioned the computer could put the motor into "NEW" mode, causing it to over oil or oil heavy for a certain period of time..

also your oil flow is determend on how much throttle you give it wide open its getting the 50:1 ratio half throttle less oil flow

That makes sense.. But the lakes around here aren't that big. I measured the amount of oil I used again. It was about 2 inches lower than when I started Saturday morning. The load in the boat could have played a part in the oil use. I had 3 grown men in the boat instead of 2. It makes sense that with more weight in the boat, I'd use more gas and oil. Thanks for the info guys.
