Indexing Spark Plugs to 150HO Etec

Do you mark a line on the open side of electrode.

How do you reference or orient plugs to fuel injectors? Is there a diagram. I need to change out my plugs and want to do myself.

    Thanks,

When changing mine i marked the open side of the electrode on the outside of the plug and then tightened until i got the mark facing the injectors. You should be able to tell where the injectors are just by looking. I was told they didn't have to be perfect as long as the open side was facing the direction of the injectors.

Re: Indexing Spark Plugs to 150HO Etec (Ranger_519_vx)

I got plugs installed tonight. I did notice the bottom plug on starboard side was not lined up at all. Where the plug needs to be at 9 pm on the dial the plug was at 3pm. What kind of impact would that have? My dealer said anything bewteen 6 adn 12 is good. Most of mine were between 9 and 10 on the dial starboard side and 1-3 on the dial on the port side.

    Thanks everyone for your help.

Assuming the injector is at 9pm, if the open part of the electrode is at 3 then that plug does not work there. the fuel needs to be able to pass through the gap, at 3 the fuel strikes the closed end of the electrode.
