I have the 300 on a 2100 . I have a Bravo 1 lab finished 28 and a Bravo 1 XS 29.Both run good. The 29 keeps my rpms down and seems to have a little better top end. I've only run it a couple of times...weather's been the pits.

I ran a sportsmaster on mine and had the mini mods done to it. Titus the fella that does the Stroker guys gearcases did mine. It makes the sporty behave alot better.

Also 14 to 15 inches of setback is worth 1 to 2 mph over 12inches.

My opinion on the setback, is that the 2200 requires less trim with more setback , which allows the big boat to cut the air better than being hung up in the air real high.

I am real interested in seeing some good numbers out of your new combo.

1.6 will allow better selection of props to choose from and smaller size. 1.75's causes big props and a better hole shot in theory. But the props cut down on the 1.75 advantage. 1.6's let you run average 26/27 props that are more avaliable to try or borrow rather then having to buy and modify and test then sell and do again.

The tq master will need coned and should be faster than the sporty after modified. I would prolly
Let Titus or tooter do the modification as they have the experience with bullets, strokers and allisons. I think their work is superior to all others.

    Re: 300XS. GAMBLER 2200 (gambler07)

I haven't tried the bravos again since putting my setback back to where it was when I had my merc setup.

But I had alot of trouble getting the bravo 1 and hydro qix.... Props to run as they did on the merc/modified sporty case. I thought that the would perform better on the hpdi case design however I can't get the rpm. That being said the txp 3 blade has been the only thing that will perform all around that I have tried. Mark croxton says that the 30 bravo 1 he did for me should be within 200 rpm of the 29 txp I am running that I got from ge blazer( Greg). The 30 bravo 1 and my 29 hydro is about 800 off and 1000 rpm from where they were/wouldve been with the merc/modified sporty combo.
After many posts you can search for and read on here, mark was stumped and Wayne (hydrotech) read the posts and said that I needed his gearcase mods to correct that problem. My slip numbers are real low and Un reasonable however after verifying the tach and double checking. For what ever reason everything seems to be correct. I have been debating on doing their mods but I am undecided. With the boat/prop hooking up like it is to be stock.

I have no information nor have I done any research on the sho gearcase or props.

If I were doing this again I would follow wd's advise and find the lighter ox66 Yamaha 3.1 300 and have hydrotech build it! lot of difference in weight same as the sho is lighter!!! And that makes a major difference on a rear heavy 2200!!!

I think the sho will be a good decision just not as fast!
