My cowling has a chip in it from the previous owner... he then painted over it.... can I fill this area in with something like bondo? and then paint the cowling?

Put a decal over it. See post above for decal.![]()
I intend to redo the decals... already talked to the Iguana a little bit.. I want to fix this and paint it before the decals though
Marine tex will get the job done...its easy to work with, finishes smooth as silk

"Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote." -- Benjamin Franklin
I knocked a hole in my cowling and used bondo to fill in a pretty big portion of the hole. I could access it from the inside, so I taped the outside and filled it from the inside. That way the repair was smooth on the outside and didn't require sanding. It's not perfect but I would say it worked pretty good. It was a lot better option for me than spending $1200 for a new cowl.
