cowling question

I bought a used powerhead off a 175 FastStrike; not sure what year; aprox. a 96. I have no model or serial number; but I noticed the cowling that the powerhead came from had Nitro in large letters on it. My question is were these motrts made for a specific make of boat and is there anything different from these FastStrikes hosepower wise to a regular FastStrike.

nope, same motor as far as horse power. Maybe Champ. or some of the other Johnson gods will ping in and let you know about that certain "Nitro" deal. It had to come on a Nitro boat as a package deal I would say.
