Sounds like the motor is getting a little extra fuel from somewhere...lift pump, fuel injector, vapor separator?
Do you trailer with the motor at full tilt?
Mine does it too. I always wrote it off as a fuel enrichment cycle when cold but now I'm not sure. Its done this ever since I bought it new.

no i dont trailer the motor up all the way i use a transom saver could this be happening because i am squeezing the primer bulb a little to much? also i am going
to change the primer bulb on this motor it currently has a mercury bulb on and you
guys are saying use nothing but original equipment with these motors.thanks
JC I never use my primer bulb. I let it sit all winter long and it fires right up no prob. I feel its a characteristic of these engines and something to make you go hmm......

I never squeeze the bulb on my 03 DI either. When cold or not run in a while i just turn the key on and let the fuel pump run thru it's cycle then she lights off just fine. That may be your fuel enrichment problem
