you have to pull the power head to put the new tunner in and you will need a good torque wrench. Most shops will charge around 4 to 6 hours to pull then replace the power head. That could be between 400 and 600 just for the tunner replacement.
If it was me I would not replace the tunner. The gains that you will see is not worth the money. Do the heads, reeds, and flywheel. that will be the best bang for the bucks.

I am sure Wayne can give you a much better idea on the gains that you can expect to see.

    JMHO!!

Any modifications and I would think your warranty is out the winder.

The mods are all bolt on. If you’re very comfortable with a wrench and have a shop manual with all the specs it should be no problem. Since the warranty will be void there is no point in paying a shop if you’re a good wrench. If your not familiar or never dove into the internals of a HP OB I would leave it to the pros.

Will not void your warranty unless the part you bolted on caused the failure. Been there and done that. Yamaha had no problem warranting my motor.

I have done this on EFI engines. Like it says in the post above if you have the tools and a service manual its not to bad. I come down to your area every year in April to ride motorcycles on the Dragon. That lake thats along hiway 129 before you get to the Dragon is it any good to fish? How about other lakes in that area?

Put one on a OX66 vmax 200 with the tuner. Took me 8 hours on Saturday and part of Sunday. I did alot of other things while I had the power head off such as tighted up the lower top cowling bushings with Teflon bushings and other things things a shop might not have done (for free). Just alont of locktite, torqueing bolts and cleaning gaskets off. If you have some expeirience working on engines etc.. its not that hard. I also replaced the stock engine mounts that were worn out and looose on my engine with hydrotecs solid mounts. REALLY WAKED THIS ENGINE UP. READY FOR STAGE 3 AND FLYWHEEL. THANKS HYDROTEC!!!! the tuner kit and the engine mounts were the most time consuming of all the mods. If you did reeds and heads it wouldnt take you near as long as long as you could get to all the head bolts with the cowling on and torque them. On my OX66 I could have.

I have the same motor and I can't look at the website here at work, how much did you spend and what kind of perfomance improvements did you get?

If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!
