Need Help !!! Fast Strike 150

When i start my boat up it runs and idles fine, but when I start up on plane it will miss. When it gets on plane running down the lake it will still have a bad miss. I had a check run on my engine and all the compression is good and all my packs are good. I had one electrical problem problem, the regulator caught fire while at the dealer and they changed it but it still has the miss. I was just wondering what the problem could be. I see where you guys talk about a EET sensor going bad and causing a miss, but could that be bad and all my packs still be good. Guys help me as soon as possible !!! I would thank you greatly !!!

My old Intruder did that and it was the power pack. Didn't catch fire though.

If the regulator caught fire, I would look at the high side on the stator output and all the other electrical stuff....

I got a new one put on. The guy told me after he put it on that the stator was was harmed and everything else was ok. But when I took it to the lake it still had the miss. He told me the packs was alright, then I asked him about the EET sensor and he really didint know what I was talking about. He said that he had run a diagnostic check on everything else it everything was ok.

My bad , the stator was not harmed !!! He made sure after he put the new regulator on.

If the regulator caught fire, I would be curious as to the cause. Thats just me though.

My Intruder did the same thing as well... It was the power pack. They changed it out and problem went away.. At least have them change it out and try it.. As far as the fire.. Not good.. I too would want to know why that happened. Best of luck and let us know what it was!

The guy that was working on it said that it was smoking. For some reason I think that he was trying to pull a fast one , casue I had used the boat a lot and it was fine when I took up there that morning. I think that he was just trying to make some money off of me. Casue I just dont see it start smoking right out of the blue. And it has been ok every since he has changed it and that was last summer. How many power packs does the engine have ? I would like it just to be the pack so I could chage it and get my boat back out on the water. Its Tournament season and its killing me not having my baby back out on the water .

Is it very hard to replace a power pack in this motor. And do you reckon that I ought to change the eet sensor too along with the power pack.

I took mine into the shop and let a pro take care of it.. I for sure would have screwed something up. As far as the sensor. Most on here say to change it out when you change the power pack. I did not on mine and so far everthing is ok. When I need another power pack I will have them change the sensor as well.. Best of luck and keep us up to date.

They can indeed just go out and smoke out of the blue......... not good as for the mechanic, because they always get the finger pointed that it was fine when i brought it in.... but I will attest it does happen, as every other mechanic on the board will too.....

LOL I wont point no finger at no mechanic LOL, I had had the boat out on the lake in about a week before I took it in, I just thought that it was king of weird.

The "EET" is actually called an optical sensor. Always replace the pack & sensor eye @ the same time. Make sure you are using the plug and plug wire specified by the manufacturer (NO SUBSTITUTIONS).

Have your technician check the shift switch for proper operation.
