    fishing trip advice

Wife and I are thinking about taking a little trip some time during next month. Maybe down around the Orlando area. Weighing the difference between pulling my boat or using a guide or renting something to fish out of, probably will pull my boat. Any advice or where or where not to stay? Don't need 5 star accomodations, just want somewhere close that is safe enough to unhook my boat and do some looking around. By researching the area, there are plenty of lakes around. My wife and I both are tired of winter and it just got started here. Don't hunt much anymore. Any advice on area hotels and which lakes have ramps that will handle 21 foot boats would be a big help. Thanks in advance.

If you'll be staying around the Lake Toho Kissimmee chain area I would recommend the Quality Inn at Hertiage park. It is on Route 192 just west of the town of St Cloud. It is also about 5 miles from the public ramp for lake Toho. 407-846-4545. We've used this location for the last two Florida rallies. It's about 12 miles from Disney and maybe 10 or so from downtown Orlando.

Do any of you guys have any experience with the fish camps around the central Florida lakes? I've looked at some online, but I haven't heard of some of the lakes. A small 1 bedroom cabin with a boat slip would be great. There are a lot listed but most don't have websites. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

We just stayed here for our Classic last month. Pretty cool little place. The cabins aren't too fancy, but they are ok. Nice marina. Close to a lot of things to do in Orlando.

Trails end on lake Istokpoga has small cabins on the water w/slips or you can rent a nice trailer off the water. owners are super nice and friendly people. the downside to staying there is it's a bit of a drive to any stores for groceries, etc. also google "Istokpoga marine" they are on the west side of the lake and have nice cabins, marina, bait, tackle, etc. plus they are much closer to the town of lake placid for food provisions. I have stayed at both and they are worth lookin at. The fishing is excellent on Istokpoga

I've stayed at Trails End twice. Very quiet, and relaxing setting. Awesome owners. I love it there!

Unless you unhook and leave the boat, then the entire boat may disappear.
They have been having huge problems there. Personally, I think it's someone who lives there as NO ONE can get out of that area that many times without getting caught.
