Pictures from tourney at Lay Lake

Here's some pictures of today's tournament from Lay Lake. Thanks to everyone for braving the elements to join us! We had a great time and even caught some decent fish for a change but was it ever c-o-l-d!!!

Oh, and the trip back to Killen wasn't too bad except for a 10 or 12 mile stretch from Cullman to Moulton and another 6 or 7 mile stretch of US-101 from US-157 to Town Creek. According to the news reports that I heard on the way home, the areas east of I-65 got hit the worst with a number of road closings, accidents, etc.

I'm glad everyone made it home safely! We had to leave around 10 am. Although I think I was just about to catch "THE BIG ONE" and it would have been all over with! Seriously we did not have but one bite the whole time we were fishing. Did everyone catch fish before, during, or after the rain?

Avery, I'm glad to know that you got home okay. I don't think I've ever been that cold that long. The low temp, rain and WIND was really rough. Interesting to note that even with the bad weather this was the largest turnout we have had. Congratulations on your win and thanks for the pics.

Jason, Danny cought his five fish by 11:30am. Some were caught during and some after the rain. Sorry I didn't get to meet you and your dad. Maybe on Mitchell.

Believe me, I know what it's like fishing in that kind of weather. I did it all day last Friday and Saturday on Guntersville. The absolute most miserable I have ever been. I won't be doing it again.

Glad you made it back ok Avery. They just told on the news the Lauderdale County EMA has reported over 40 accidents since 8:45 this evening in the Florence area. One of those wrecks took the life of the owner of a very good restaurant in Florence. He was on his way to the restaurant when his Jeep hit a patch of ice and sent him into oncoming traffic.

They all look bigger when you're puttin' 'em in the boat but that's still a good pair o' fish. And I think the grin on your face pretty much says it all!

I'd been happy to catch fish half that size.

I had a good time myself, thanks for Winn for waiting on me at the landing, I made a wrong turn in centerville/brent and spent 15 minutes going west:( Also, thanks James for giving me a chance to fish with you, sorry I was a little late.

I caught 2 right off the bat, broke of a bigfish:( under a boat house, added another one on a SB off a laydown and then found 2 nice ones on a concete block seawall. Most came before lunch or so. I was able to cull a 13 inch spot with a 13 inch largehead at the bidge by the landing at 2:30 Winn and myself thought the largemouth was a little fatter:) which moved me from 4th to 3rd:) Just goes to show, it's not over till it's over:)
I caught most of my fish on a spotremover jig head with 5" yumdinger if ya'll havent tired that jighead, give them a look, it's a awesome jighead.

thanks again, looking forward to Mitchell
