    HELP? 1997 Evinrude Intruder 175Hp

I posted this in general forum. WIll try here too

While out today, I went to make my 1st run. Boat got up fine, but could not get any speed, almost like it was running on 5 cylinders rather than 6. After shutting down, I tried to get on plane again, and it would get up, but very slow. Also it seemed to be missing just like 1 cylinder was not kicking in. Got home and checked the plugs and compression. All checked out good. Anyone got any ideas. Next step carbs? Not sure what to do. Wondered if anyone has had a problem like this.

    Much appreciation.

Sorry for not including model and serial #s the first time.

    Model # E175GLEUC

    Serial # 04354107

On my engine, I had issues like that when the fuel filter cap was not on tight, allowing gas to leak, and for the fuel pump to suck air. It was awful, but it would run pretty well once on plane.

You can also hook up a timing light to each spark plug wire and see if one is not firing. It should give you a consistent light if ok, and inconsistent if not.

Re: HELP? 1997 Evinrude Intruder 175Hp (Lockjaw)

Went through a lot of testing and nothing checked out, so I started back at the basis--put new plugs in!!! Motor ran better than it ever has. Guess it was a simple fix after all. Thanks for the input.
