    ZX 225 electrical question

ok guys, have a question here.

I was working on a buddies ZX225 and had disconnected the batteries to rewire some of the connectors in the bilge area and to see why the port bilge pump was not working.

I found that the pump is not bad and that the connections are good for that bilge pump, fuse is good in the locker area and the light on the keypad comes on. Any ideas why the pump will not come on when the light come on?

Also, when I reconnected everything and had fixed the wiring, the courtesy lights stay on. I made sure that I did not hit the override switch in the compartment. In addition, when I hit the courtesy ligth switch to turn the lights on or off, I can hear the keypad make the solenoid nosie, but they do nto turn off. If I pull the fuse, the lights do go off.

    Any ideas???

Is the impeller in the pump seized, but not popping the fuse?? Make sure to check the grounds @ both end's.. I have had the light on my pad stay stuck on, so I had to disconnect battery more then once to reset... Hope this helps.

The pump is good, there is just no power making it to the connector even though the light comes on on the keypad. Are the skeeter keypads reliable? How do you troubleshoot them?

Thanks for the reply! VERY much appreciated!

No, the key pads tend to have problems.. If the pad has power, the light will come on when pushed, but that doesn't mean there is power coming out to the pump. Take a test light and verify you have power coming out, with the button on. There should be a brown wire, or brn/white going to the plug. That should be the pump. If no power coming out, it's the plug or the pad, (most likely the pad). Also try unplugging the pad and make sure every thing looks good inside the plug. Do the rest of the pumps work???

    Thanks.

Yes all other parts and pumps work from the keypad. All except the port side bilge pump! I will check the output side on the keypad, thanks for that idea.

I did look at the connectors on the pad and all were ok there, I just did not shoot the wires at that time.

Thanks again for the idea on the wire colors, will shoot those wires tomorrow!

I have a good working touch pad if you need one but most of the time its the brain box that the touch pad is connected to that goes bad. What year is the boat?

It is a early 2007. Can you IM me the price? Also, where is the brain box. I can only locate the fuse panel and the keypad in the system.

    Thanks for the help fellas!

I have a touch pad that fits 01-05 models. In 06, I think is when they changed them finely. The one I have had a control box mounted separately under the dash that went bad. It was sort of like a relay where everything was connected from the fuse box. Sorry, it wont work on 07.

Roger that, thanks and I will look under the dash for the other box, but I do not think there is one there. Only the relay/fuse box in the right rod compartment.

Re: ZX 225 electrical question (Carlos H)

    Update

Did the reset/removal of the battery cables. The interior lights still come on and the port bilge still does not work.

Another update. I plugged in the charger and the light went off. I am guessing that the battery had low voltage which for some reason caused the interior lights to come on? Odd as all get out!

However, the port bilge still does not work. More wires to shoot there.

Final update on this one. Seems I have the backside of the fuse out of the holder.

You can see it there at 2 oclock in the picture.
