I was cleaning and waxing my boat and motor this weekend, getting it ready for the cold months of fishing ahead, and as I was waxing the outboard and motor mount I found, one of my bolts that holds the motor to the jackplate LOOSE I mean 4 or 5 turns with a rachet loose...I then checked all the others on the motor and found that 3 out of the 4 were loose. The other 2 were only a turn to a turn and a half loose but still....This is a 2 1/2 year old motor, which had been serviced this past winter, these bolts should have never come loose to being with....I then checked my jackplate bolts and found that they were slightly loose, so I torqued them down as well.
This might explain the vibration I have been feeling while running down the lake.
Is this something that occurs normally? In all the boats and motors I have owned this is the first time I have ever found the motor mount bolts loose.....![]()
