    Stupid Question.

    2005 200 HP E-Tec HO. (E200DHLSOC)
    Serial # 05111160

My engine blew again last weekend. Just had a new powerhead put on in April. Talked to my dealer and he said BRP was shipping a new "fully dressed" powerhead this time. SO here's my dumb question...... what does fully dressed mean?

I shoulda checked to see if you were lurking around here before I posted this! So by no parts swapping, you mean everything is new? Injectors and such. Keep in mind, I'm about as mechanically inclined as my dog!

I have been thru three of these, yes everything is brand new right off the assembly line. It will take the mechanic a couple of hours to swap out and you will be good to go.

    Re: Stupid Question. (Strat201)

Man I hope I don't have to go through this again. My dealer said there was nothing I could have done differently. Max RPM was 5645 and I had two "Hot" codes (two cylinders were hot at the same time). He said there was nothing in the computer to indicate we had done anything wrong. I'm starting to get just a wee bit worried.

I know how you feel little brother ive been thro that before only with the other kind of motors I'm not going to mention any brands but I blew 3 of them. I'm just leery of any motor be it black or blue, I have just about as bad a luck as you do.

    Re: Stupid Question. (Strat201)

I'm grateful that BRP has taken care of me both times. My dealer has been excellent as well. The thing that worries me is when the warranty expires. If it happens to go after the warrany expires there's no way I'm gonna be able to pay for a new powerhead. I haven't given up hope or anything I'm just worried. When it's running it is a powerful beast.... just want it to keep running!

    Re: Stupid Question. (JoeBro44)

Just got off the phone with BRP. They explained to me what a fully dressed powerhead is, and no it has nothing to do with gowns and tuxes . I was told since in both instances the failure was the #2 cylinder, they were shipping a fully dressed powerhead to ensure the problem won't happen again. New computer, the whole nine yards. Hats off to BRP!!!

    Re: Stupid Question. (JoeBro44)

Just curios, how many hours between failed powerheads? A rep or dealer should be able to find the cause of failures, especially if the same cylinder or the same type of failure. Your concern of when its going to happen again or if , is why I am answering to this post. Most powerheads failures of this nature is due to problems outside of the outboard!!. without getting too lengthy,my contact info is David 703-517-2626 ( Yamaha,evin/john,tohatsu,MERC factory trained tech ). If it means anything, I learned this lesson back in my first outboard omc class in Parsippany nj.

    Re: Stupid Question. (dhagemeier)

First powerhead was 148 hours and second one was 14 hours. At least that was what I understood.

As Mr Garrison would say, "Remember, there's no such thing as a stupid question, just stupid people with questions."
