    Mystery water ???

My ZX225 is holding water somewhere under the driver's side console. In "holding water" I mean there will be a saturated wet spot on the carpet right beside my hot foot pedal. This past weekend, I pulled my covered boat out from the garage to launch. I took the cover off and after launching noticed the wet spot and had a few drops fall on my foot while running. The strange thing is that the boat hasn't been used in a month, so I really would have thought that any water would have evaporated. I began to wonder if a disconnected drain tube from my cooler beneath the passenger seat could cause water to collect over there, but it doesn't seem likely. I hardly ever use the cooler in the floor, so it doesn't seem likely that it would come from there. Has anyone else had this problem ??

check your tube going to your speedo, kind of sounds like that could be your problem if it drips on your foot when running.

Yeah, what Jay said. Also check the tube to the water pressure gauge.

This problem has been a mystery for the last year or two. I know alot of guys who are freaking out over this. My new ZX225 does the same thing. It only gets wet there after I shut down or launch and get water to come over back. I personally think the water runs along the aluminum frame under the deck and runs forward to drain and it ends up around your feet because of the design. I have never had water there unless water comes over the back. JMO!

I have a 2004 ZX250 and have had the "mystery water" since the beginning. It must be the frame as mentioned above or the seal on the rubrail/topcap but I have checked that and don't see how it could leak.

Do you use the cooler under the passenger seat? If so, the water comes from there. With plug out the water tries to drain, but cannot because of the way mold is constructed. In other words there is not enough " FALL or ANGLE " for the water to drain to the back, so if runs towards the front of the boat under both seats and around the sides. Try this. Remove the piece that holds the measuring board ( under the middle step or seat ). You will see a drain pipe. Get a 5/8" piece of clear tubing approximately 5' feet long. Attach the tubing to the drain pipe then route the tubing towards the back of the boat ( IN THE CENTER OF THE BOAT ). If you will heat a cup of water in the microwave until it boils then stick the end of the 5/8" tubing in the water for a couple of minutes it softens the tubing so it goes on the drain pipe easier. You have to lay down on your side so you can see up into the hole left after the measuring board bracket is removed.

Your mystery water problem is solved.

I had this issue on my 2003 ZX250 and it drove me crazy. For weeks, I tried everything to find where the water was coming from. Then one night while watching TV it hit me. Did what I said......no more water!!!!! I have since done the same thing on my 2004, 2005, and 2006 ZX250.

If this is not clear please give me a call and I will gladly go over it with you or anyone experiencing the problem. 904-545-3989.

Wow, I guess Skeeter missed something else in quality control.

Unless drastic improvements are made to the Skeeter line up, I've owned my last.

skeeterjay is right on the money, my problem was the power steering cable was loose, driping fluid on my right foot.

Wow. Same issue with my 2006 ZX225. I do sometimes use the storage behind driver seat as a cooler. Noticed the drain hose was missing, so when I drain it, it doesn't flow back to the end of the boat but rather comes out towards the floor. Have ordered the hose and in the meantime use the other storage as a cooler, and it does have a drain hose which goes all the way to the back end.

Re: Mystery water ??? (North Central Region)

I blew off the speed o hose some where around 75 and 79 mph and was filling the boat up with water like to never found the problem though we had a bad leak around the JP or somewhere else. Also had a lek on the Yamaha water pressure gauge also Had to get their hose kit to stop that one. So far so good no more leaks.

And one more here. If I use the cooler under the passenger seat it drains towards the other seats. I just quit using it as a cooler and place a small one in the storage behind passenger seat or in cooler weather use the floor one. Kinda have to question the thinking on all of this. There is not a very good cooler in the boat.

My mystery water is the livewell backup... even after having the local dealer install new valves!
(about 3 gallons when switch-locks are closed)... suspect controls may be a 1/4 inch or less too long so it never closes completely... any ideas?

    Re: Mystery water ???

Just got my boat back from my dealer in Beaumont, Texas. I couldn't find any leaks in my speedo or water pressure hoses beneath my console. I needed to have some other things done, so I decided to let them check it out also. The verdict is that there are no leaks under the console. The "mystery water" does seem to coincide with the use of the passenger seat cooler, so I'm going to try Skeeter Bill's drain tube recommendation first. I'll keep you guys posted on the results. Thanks for all of your input...
