Etec 225 HO Goes back to the shop

This is unreal! This motor has had more stuff replace its got to be a mess up Etec. This time BRP had them replace the wire harness they said there had to be a short. Ok something new maby this is it. Mine you they have replace a lif pump, 2 crank positon sensors, 1 EMM and a sensor on a fuel filter. They test it and the same dam thing get to 5500 rpm and it shuts down they contact BRP on the water and the rep says its the cps they have a guy come from the shop a bring one out this is the third one they put it in about 5 miles down the canal this one goes and the boat shuts down again and has to limp back in. BRP is called again and they said they needed sometime to try to figure this out. This is BS. What is the end result hear do i need to get al lawyer involved.

Why is getting a lawyer the last resort? It's not like BRP is hanging you out to dry. If they were like, not our problem, then I could understand. Have they checked the electronics on the boat?

You don't need a lawyer. They suck at working on outboards. You need a Master Tech.

Call them tomorrow morning, be sure you have your serial number handy.

One thing, if the CPS fails, does the tach go to zero right away and does it read any rpm when you are trying to start the motor? If the CPS is dead, there will be NO tach reading at all.

Re: Etec 225 HO Goes back to the shop (SEAHORSE)

They told me there was no rpm reading when they tried to cranck it. it would not start at first it took about half an hour to start again. BRP said it might have something to do with a flywheel harnest

    Thanks for your help
