    VRO on a 200 Johnson

    I have a 1997 200 Johnson Venom with a VRO oiling system.
I have not had a problem with it so far, but I have heard horror stories about the VRO not working properly on some outboards causing major damage.

I'm wondering how dependable the VRO is on this year model and wondering if anyone recommends disconnecting it and mixing oil manually. Also, is there any maintenance that needs to be performed to the VRO? Does the warning system work well or is the motor already shot at that point?

    Thanks!

Re: VRO on a 200 Johnson (jay's snake)

as stated a million times before the VRO on the newer motors like yours are dependable , a lot more then you and your bud getting gas and forgetting to mix the oil. I have a 1993 and I will NOT disconnect mine as it works great and I have had no problems with it. as for the warning system I have seen more of them go bad and the vro works great still as the little board may mess up and send a false signal.

I to have a Johnson 200 Venom 97 model. Since it has the new VRO system, I think I will leave it alone, it is working.

Is there any PM that I can do to keep it up to par?
