Nice boat. Ought to turn some heads on the lake once you get it propped. Did you find a secret way to mount that 997 up high or is it down low. Don't see it in the photos but figure you may not have had it mounted. Thanks!

Re: New to the board, heres my intro and pics of boat (Dougw1515)

Got the transducer mounted to the back side of the jack plate(you can see it in the pics, drivers side, probly not the best place for it but for now there she sits. i usually have to adjust it if i get in thick grass or if the jack plate is down when i come off plane(usually flips up on the break away bracket. i bought one of those humming bird digital depth sounder( HDR 610) mounted in dash in place of one of the glass blanks with the thru haul transducer so i can still read when on plane(cheaper than the switch and other thru haul transducer for the 997) but i works for me right now. Going to try a couple of props after i get this lower unit coned, really dont like this trophy plus way harder to drive compared to some other props my buddy has let me use( gotta love having a friend with a wall of props and warehouse of drag/race boats and years of experience in making boat haul ass, he owns mirage boats here in winter haven. but great meeting and talking with you guys i enjoy the site and some of the other boat guys and their top end numbers(not the gamblers bullets, allisons and strokers the real top end boats but the other guys everyone knows hope to be here for help in anyway and share ideas with set up or mods to the g boat.

Actually I was refering to the location of the head unit/display of the 997. Was curious as to where you had that mounted? As for the transducer - that's where I had mine mounted, on the jack plate. When I get it back I'm considering changing that to a thru the hull mounting so I can utilize the LCD display at speeds other than a hot footed idle.

ohh, sorry my confusing, the head unit under the dash on the floor beside the drivers seat where the original lowrance set. ill get some pics of it. i like it there so no chance of anything hitting it and keeping it out the weather, to much money to take chances. thinking off rebuilding dash to mount it and a smart craft gauge and take most of the analog gauges out. still on the to due list.

Re: New to the board, heres my intro and pics of boat (Gamblurr man)

Looks like we're working from the same list!

On my '95 209 I've already got the SmartCraft gauges and the SmartLink gauges. I keep looking at those bigger than 5" screens and wanting one... But it's gotta fit without impeding/obstructing other functions. That place, seemingly, is the dash panel. Now, how to modify it to meet these requirements:

1.) All existing gauges must fit and be viewable(2-SmartCraft and 4 Smartlink - willing to eliminate the exiting 1240 flasher)
2.) Once installed the 8"-10" unit must be viewable in a functional manner. Not by twisting and turning trying to get "that" view.
3.) Function buttons on LCD must be readily accessable. I'll narrow that down a tad and restrict it to say the most commonly used function buttons must be readily accessable.

A newly designed layout of the existing dash panel is a given. A new style steering wheel may provide a solution that dash layout can't solve - we'll see....

Re: New to the board, heres my intro and pics of boat (3literoutlaw)

yeah i've heard the outlaws can swap ends real quick, i'm not out to break any records just like to be able run with a full load and passenger in the high 70s and save gas. Gas and klotz oil has just has been killing me with the other motors i've had on this boat. i know this things going to be dangerous in the top end.

Welcome, I don't have a high post count(more fun to listen than talk) but I'm on BBC everyday it's addicting. But I will say the people on the Gambler side are an awesome bunch. Quick to help any way they can. If someone doesn't know the answer they know where to find it. Again, welcome.
