well i believe i sold my 2000 merc 225 efi. have purchased a 2006 mercury 225 optimax 97 hours with factory warranty due to the fact it was purchased in 2008. also the motor hasnt been registered with merury yet? looking for the fuel mileage increase. hope its a good motor. im aware that it is really important to warm them up and only use optimax oil. any thought would e appreciated. what about speed and bottom end grunt?

J/K,...well, a little bit anyway. Seriously, the 225 EFI is a major fuel hog and I'm sure the new motor will meet your main goal of much improved fuel mileage. It sounds like you got a solid deal and I hope it works out to your liking.
The 225 Opti just isn't quite the beast the 225 EFI is, but who knows, if your old 225 EFI had some problems, maybe the correct running 225 Opti will actually run better.
where did you find that motor? i have been looking at repowering my 201 Cobra and i also live in winnipeg
