Ran the Champ for the first time

I guess it ran like a Champion . Very smooth and handled extremely well Top end on my 184DCB is 50mph with a 115hp Merc tower of power. Still have lots of little things to get finished and ready for a tourney but I have a running/ driving boat again with new bunks on the trailer

One thing I noticed is that my Champ really likes the engine low too the pad. If I raised it much or over trimmed a little it made a big difference in how it ran and handled.

Pleased as punch with the boat overall

Now go out and catch some good ones.

Heck @ 50 MPH: just wait till the lake gets rough that tower of power will pass many others with bigger HP. IE: when the hull is the differece maker.

PS: A very smart marine Tech named Swede (was in his 80's) told me the 115 tower of power was Merc most reliable best engine back in the day. He would know as he started wrenching marine @ age 19. About 7 years ago Swede passed so my merc expert is now with the lord.

I'd say that is pretty darn respectable. I had a Johnson 120 looper on my 90 176 and 53 was the number on it, with no JP.

Full tournament load two anglers and full livewells it runs consistent 45mph, 47 if I have the wind and current. This is still the most economical running boat combination I have ran. I will enjoy the increased performance when I do eventually install the 175pro xs but not the increased fuel bill. I just cannot keep my foot out of anything I own. WFO.
