    Trim is stuck up.

My motor us stuck trimed all the way up. Prior to this happening it seemed to be working a little slower than normal going up and down.

I hear the motor working it just does not move it up or down.

Is this typical of broken trim or should I add fluid or??????

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Thanks

    Jon

get the motor up then there should be a motor support bracket that you pull out then there is a big screw head that you will loosen this will allow you to put the motor down on the support manually. you will see a black plug at the cylinder you unscrew it to check fluid. you should be able to see the fluid if not you need to add some. I think you can use power steering or trans fluid cant remember which one but if you can get merc fluid i would think that would be better. you need to get the pressure off the hydraulics before you check the fluid.

I had this problem with a 99 EFT 115hp. The relay switch on the engine went out and was stuck in the up motion only. It happened on the water so (knowing electrical circuits so dont try this if you dont) I was able to rewire the relay to be stuck going down to get myself in a spot to get back to the marina. You may want to check that out. It made the sound of working, went up only until it was fully extended but wouldnt stop running. Replacement was simple and cheap if this is what you run into.

    Just a thought.

So you had a bad relay? Have you fixed it yet? Are you planning on going to the XMAS Banquet?

I will buy you a beer.

I have a 125 Merc. and mine got stuck in the up position earlier this year. It was also a bad relay. When mine went out, you could hear the trim running constantly, but if you hit the trim lower lever the motor would at least quit. I ended up taping mine down for the day, because I was afraid it would burn up the motor. Then all of a sudden it started working again. I ended up replacing both relays, and bought and extra that I carry on the boat. They are fairly easy to change. At least on a Merc.
