    98" evinrude 115 special

Does anybody else have this motor? I can't hardly find any info on it anywhere. The motor is hell to first crank. I bought the boat from a friend of mine and he says is been like that from the day he got it off the show room floor. Once you get it cranked for the first time it cranks pretty easy from then on. Most of the time!!! Any suggestions.

I have the same motor. When the engine is cold on first start up try this.

First start with a firm primer bulb. Next raise the cold start lever on the control box a little. Turn the key one click to the right push the key choke in and hold it in while cranking until the engine fires. If it wants to die push the key choke in a couple of times until she picks up speed and runs. Do not turn the engine over for too long if it does not start to avoid starter damage. Also let the engine warm up before WOT to allow for normal operating temp. and avoid engine damage.

This always works for me. I hope it helps you.

    Good Luck!

    Jeff
