    Trailer boat loading problem

When driving my boat onto the trailer, I have my trailer with the front of the bunks just barely out of the water. I drive on the boat and i cannot get past the roller, it seems it is too high on the trailer. My bow hits the roller instead of clearing it. Yes, It is my first boat and no one has shown me the ropes. We have stop the boat before the roller and physically lift the front of the boat onto the roller and then attach the winch strap. Could the roller be to high? When we get it on the roller is right where it out to be, right in front of the bow eye. Can't figure it out. I have a 93 Ragin Cajun, 19' 8". Can anybody help.
    Thanks

Sounds like you have the trailer a little too deep in the water. All are different but I put my trailer in the water until the top of the fenders are just about to go under but are still exposed. Works out to be just the right depth on the last two boats I have had.

Also need to check the pin hight of the ball. 17-18 inches is usually about right. I have had two Cajuns now and had to cut down the front roller/pad on both to get mine to work right. When I replaced the original bias ply tires with radials on the trailer it dropped the rear some causing more problems. Thats when I cut it down about 2 inches to solve my problem. Oh yeah I back mine until the inside runners are about 1 ft out of water, top of fenders also at water line.

Re: Trailer boat loading problem (fuzz)

I also have the same problem, but am planning on doing some modification to the front roller, as it seems no matter how far or how shallow I back the trailer in, the problem still occurs. Not only do I have this problem, I also cannot pull my boat all the way up on the roller, the pitot tube for the speedometer and the sensor for the fishfinder are on the bottom rear. So, when shortening the roller, I think I will also move it back a couple inches.

Re: Trailer boat loading problem (valleycajun)

I got my 93 Cajun in June of this year, and had the same problem the first time I took it out. I ended up being too deep. I pulled it out a little and found the right spot. I do have to use the motor a little to help the boat on the trailer for maybe 1.5 to 2 feet.

It also looks like the previous owner shortened the front roller a little.

Trim the motor up a little and hit the throttle a bit while trailering. This will push the front of the boat out of the water a little and allow for less friction on your bottom rails. Work with it, you'll get it. Try not to cuss as much as I did!!!
