Adjusting Idle RPM's...

Alright, I got some good advice last week and replaced my power pack, which solved my no spark issue. I am now running on all 6 cylinders, where before I think I was running on only 4, if I did get any spark at all. Power packs are goofy that way I guess.
The new question I have now is what is a 1992 200 hp XP outboard supposed to idle at? When I got her running again it was idling at about 1500 rpm's, which has to be too high. Was wondering if anyone new what the correct idle is and how I can adjust the timing to correct the problem. Thanks again, Skip

is it idleing at 1500 in the yard or in the water? in the yard mine idles pretty high like that but when i put it in the water it puts a little back pressure on it and slows it down

Thanks for the quick reply. This is out of the water, but hooked up to some ear muffs. What would you do in my situation? Thanks.

take it to the lake and see what the idle is. there is a little known factor to motors in the yard there is no back pressure on the exhaust hense it usually runs a bit faster than in the water , idle for my 93 venom/gt in the water is about 800-900 out of the water it can run up to 1100. you may also if you are getting hiccups may have to replace recir valves this will also help with the idle. the gurus will tell you more.

Ditto, my Venom 200 runs 1400-1500 on the muffs. Drop her in the water and it goes down to 600.
