OMC 200-225 Carb. motors 88-98 or so?

Does any one know the main difference between the 200 and 225 in these years.A dealer told me that the only difference was the stickers on the cowl. Are the carbs bigger? I talked to a guy one time that showed me some carbs from an old 2.7 235. The bore was considerably larger. He told me that they would work on my 3.0L, only they were really hard to find and he wasn't getting rid of his. I havent had a OMC motor for about 8 years now. It doesn't seem like very many people are selling OMC performance parts anymore.I cant pull up the Scaryfast website.

with the fed laws on emissions and such most people are a little scared to do HI pro and on here it is ONLY repeat ONLY factory settings. scream N fly is where you want now for hi pro stuff. now as to your question you are covering about 3 different types of omc motors, there is the 88 cross flow, the adjustable carb finger ported omc and then the venom which is a looper as was the adjust able carb model from 1993. so one of the main things is the carbs they are bigger and the manifold if I am not mistaken and also the exhaust. now the motor you are looking in to buying is a cross flow since it is a 1988 200 erude, different animal from the 1993 and newer motors.

Up to 93 the motors were open deck blocks, after and including some 93's they went to a closed deck block design. There is a lot to hoping up an OMC and we just don't do it here. Best check screamnfly.
