My carbs are plastic. What year metal carbs can I use for that engine. I do not care for the plastic.

They do not make metal carbs for your motor. The throttle bodies are metal, but the venturi and float bowls are Minlon, which is a nylon reinforced polymer. (that's what the engineers say)
Unless you overtorque the screws, the carbs hold up well and are less prone to varnishing up compared to the metal bowl carbs on other models.

My collegue is correct, and you can "lap" them on a smooth surface, with fine grit sand paper (1200) to make them seal like new, when you do your rebuild. Add a little triple guard grease to both sides of the new gaskets.
Thanks for the information.
Do not overtorque the screws, reseat the plug on the bowl and use gasiola to seal it if it leaks. This is the little brass ball looking thing on the bowl. They tend to leak a little, make sure the surface is clean before using the sealer. You can use loctite on it if you do not have the gasiola.![]()
A dab of MarineTex works wonders too. That hole is tighter than dick's headband.
