Mine is a newer motor, but the release is on the lower left side looking from the back. There should be a hole in the bracket that you go through to get to the release.
mine older one and its on driver side at bottom.use flat head and it does not come out all the way,or mine dont on my 90.
2000 model 150 hole on left side i believe use a screw driver
Thanks guys. We unscrewed everything we could and stiil couldn't get it up. Finally pulled the pin out of the top of the trim rod to raise it.
