Big(ger) block sounds real good for bigger boats. I'll loan you my 201 Evo for some good numbers, then trade my 300 phase 3 to you........

Not to stir the pot, but does any one else think that that thing is almost as ugly as a Verado?

    New Yamaha Vmax SHO (FlippinCrazy)

Stats and such look impressive but jury is out until Pros run them when the $$$ is on the table for a half year...then, let the buying really begin...with the same 4.2 block (I guess)...this could mean ECU upgrade party for guys with 200s like me...hope so...

To me, that looks 100% better than the Verado...(which in my opinion, is the ugliest outboard ever built) and I'm a Merc guy!!

I agree 1,00000%. The Yamaha looks like a REAL outboard. That Verado makes me throw up a little in my mouth it is so UGLY

I think the motor looks great but the YAMAHA stickers on the side need to be larger and the VMAX smaller.

Re: New Yamaha Vmax SHO (Musky Mike)

    IMO

I don't see a big market for a hopped up inline 4 cyl motor. Most F150's I see ae on pontoon and tin boats anyways. An I4 doesn't lend itself for much compared to a V6 (my opinion). You want a hopped up 150 get a V6 2-Stroke.

    Trends and costs, etc

Call me a skeptic...but I truly think (not feel) that the political-economic-energy stream the next decade will make the 150F the hottest and most popular engine for all makers...also the top hp choice of many with many more going back to those 115Fs and a tin boat.

Of course, I want to be very very wrong.

Well i went from a 3.1L 200 on a 19' champ down to a 17'xpress with a 90 because i got tired of sending my money to those greedy oil basterds and have been VERY happy with my new little rig.I don't tourny fish hardly at all so that's not a problem for me.My last 2 fishing trips costed aprox.$7.50 in fuel!!!(3 gal) and i ran a pretty good distance. In regards to an i 4 lending itself to performance,it will gain just like a V6 will. Dont guess you would like to drag your car against a mustang with a 2.0 4 cyl pinto motor would ya?????Got a good friend that would love to run ya!!! Oh, it only runs 9.80's in a quarter mile and is well over 500 rear wheel hp.
