200 VMAX HPDI Tilt and Trim (2003)

Need some help. Went to pull my boat out of the garage yesterday and when trimming the engine up it went about 1/4 of the way up and would not raise any more. It sounded like it was trying to push air and not fluid. Also when I quit trying to trim up, the hydrolics began falling back to the down position and fell all the way to the bottom.

Today I went and bought fluid and attempted to fill the reservoir. First off when I went to unscrew the fill I was able to unscrew pretty easily, so im guessing that may be part of the problem.

I am now wondering if I got water in the system. First off how am I able to remove the fluid in the tilt/trim system? Also I looked in my manual and have tried to find the proper way to fill the system online but no such luck. What is the correct way to fill the system? Thanks in advance.

I don't have a good answer for removing the old fluid. Maybe one of those plastic syringe things for measuring fluids, walmart has them in the automotive section.

Trim (or lift) the engine all of the way up and flip the locking mechanism to lock the engine up. Fill the reservoir with fluid. Try to cycle the trim up and down a few times (after unlocking it). Add more fluid as needed, it should be full to the cap.
