Should my tab trim be straight on 2003 250 Vmax HPDI?

The tab trim is turned just a little bit, is this OK or not? If not, how do I straighen it?

Makes no difference with hydraulic steering. The bolt for it is on top of the LU under the rubber cover just above it.

Some of my buddies say the trim tab really isn't necessary. But I'm a little reluctant to take mine off (don't have hydraulic steering). From idle to WOT, is there a noticeable difference with/without the trim tab?

That's not "entirely" correct. (and my answer may not be much better).
But, an explaination might set your mind at ease...somewhat...

Trim tab above the prop helps to off-set the torque from the prop rotation, which, shows up as hard to turn one direction while running. Easy to turn the opposite direction.
On a cable steering boat, this can be so bad that you darn near can't turn on direction, and..you don't dare let go of the wheel or it will turn the opposite direction quickly. It's a battle between you and the steering wheel.

With hydraulic steering, you will not have to fight to hold the wheel straight. However, it can be difficult to turn one direction and easier the opposite way. This can get tiresome also applying that much pressure to turn.

NOW, Most bass boats run with that trim tab out of the water, Therefore, it's not doing anything when it should be. Just not needed (aside from being a "zinc anode"). You'll never know it's gone going from launch to wide open.

If hard to turn one direction, get a "Bob's Torque Tamer". Install and remove material as necessary.
FYI: It's a really strange feeling driving when you have too much torque tamer and need some material removed from it.
I think the new secret color is "A-Rig"..........
