    bent prop shaft????????????????????

Ok so i just went to test drive/pick up my first bass boat been using my dads till now....the boat is a 2007 skeeter zx225 with 225 yamaha v max hpdi same year. Ok so i take it out on the water everything is great i love it, it looks good, then i get it out of the water and while im looking at it i spin the prop and i notice that the prop shaft is bent. My dealer say that he will put a new shaft in in and have it ready in a couple days. He says the guy must have thrown a blade because there wasn't any visible signs of him hitting anything...My question is do i let him put a new shaft in and still buy the boat or do i back out of the deal. Im not a mechanic but i know that if it was bent it had to be sending a vibration into the motor, he doesn't know how long its been bent.....>WHAT DO I DO??????

Personally, if the boat was a good buy. I would probably buy it, If !

You didn`t feel any unordinary vibrations when running it in gear.

Ask a Yamaha mechanic to look at it and give opinion?

Have the seller pay for replacing the prop shaft before you buy, if there is truly a problem he might see signs of other damage while doing the repair to the lower unit.

    Just my 2 cents

Have em put the new shaft in and buy it.I threw a blade last year and bent the shaft and had to replace it.I also hit 3 different rock's barely on different occasions and had to replace the shaft on all them also, this was all last year. The yamaha shaft's are about as soft as licorice candy.

Its funny that I am reading this as I had just sold my 21 I class to a buddy at Cap City bass club that had the same problem. I had driven it for two years with a bent shaft that I was not aware of until after I had sold it to the ccbc member.

I never felt a vibration and Nixons Marine in Walla Walla never caught it either. So if the boat is a good deal and in great overall shape then I would get it.

It doesn't always damage the prop when you bend the propshaft. I hit a stump and left no visable damage to the prop and bent the shaft.
