Metal Dust on lower plug magnet

2008 250 HPDI drained the lower unit for the first time and noticed there was metal dust on the magnet and some in the oil. Is this normal for the first time change?

Very normal. As long as it's "dust", and not small chunks of metal.
It's called normal "breaking it in".
