Gauge Problem

Hey, I have a 98 150 super six engine, hit a log and boat went airborn at high RPM my oil level and temp gauge went off started ringing , replaced water pump old one was ok but couldn't get the ringing stopped. Went to a boat mech in Crystal River Fla he charged me $200.00 seems high to me is there a reset on the motor or what ,How do i stop the gauge from ringing if this was to happen again the mech gave me a run around when asked what he did, Thanks aRon

Hi Mate.
Do you have a owners manual for you engine , if not ,can you get one ?
We dont have the 2 strokes here in Australia , but have EFI 4 strokes , with theese engines you can turn off warnning and service buzzers by turning the ignition key off and on in set pattern to reset them yourself , would think maybe your U.S engines could be the same ?????
