    problem with gas gauge

    I have an EVINRUDE 130 mod#E130TXAUM ser#G 04329410
    1997 Sunbird Cuddy 190

When the boat is sitting , with a full fuel tank of gas, without the key in it, it reads a little under the quarter mark. When I turn the key on the gauge goes to empty. Behind the fuel gauge there is a blue wire on the top, and three wires on the bottom. From left to right is red, black and brown. On the top of the fuel tank is a red and black wire. Is there a way to check the wires to see if the gauge is bad. Also the boat sat for a year could the float be stuck?

Wow ,old post but I'll answer it.
Your sender is shot. Pull the unit out of the tank and replace.
You can purchase one at most boating stores.
I'd bet the gauge is fine.
Fumes and condensation are the death of the unit, compounded daily when they just sit.
