Cotter pin part number 306394 can be picked up at your local BRP dealer.

On V-6 Johnson and Evinrudes, the # 309955 cotter pin has a bit larger diameter than the smaller #306394 pin and gives a more secure fit thru the prop shaft and keeper.

"Bring it on, Rusty" This could turn into another QL78YC sparkplug debate !

No Galvanized, stainless is too soft and you can pick up a galvanized nail with a magnet .

No sir if you use a ring shank nail it will break when you have to bend it back then you have to use a new nail, cost prohibitive !

    Tony,

Years ago most homes had fuse boxes instead of circuit breakers. The fuses were short glass tipped items with treads like a light bulb. When they "blew" and you did not have any more, you put a penny underneath one and screwed it back. The copper penny was a "shunt" to make the electricity flow but without any current protection. A lot of houses burned down from that. From that comes the American expression for anything dangerously fixed, "A penny in the fusebox type of repair"

A piece of bail hay wire will do just fine.

If you can't run with the big dogs, just stay on the porch.
