Beep Beep Beep.......warning audio

Good Evening from Toledo Bend,

On a 1989 DT150 Suzuki with single plug heads the audio is Beep, Beep, Beep, at around 3200 Rpm on up. Below that Rpm it quits. Is this the oil beeper? The boat had not been run for a few months and my buddies son told him it did it then. The boat belongs to my fishing partner but I used to own it. To make a long story short it smokes okay during the first start. The water pressure is good and the oil tank is topped off. One other thing and that is I changed the little finger size filter on it the latter part of last year and it only has maybe 25 hrs on it since I changed it. Its the filter behind the oil tank on the left side.
Any help would be appreciated.....Don't know if it makes any difference or not but its a short shaft engine also.

It sounds like a oil alarm. You need to make sure the the oil filter is not blocked, or any of the oil check valves. Do you get a red light on the service guage. The water pressure may be ok, but you may have a water blockage in a cylinder head. If this motor set for awhile, you need to get it check out...good luck.

From my suzuki book it says...

while running engine above 3000 rpms, engine rpm drops and buzzer, flow and over rev limit light come on... blocked oil filter, defective oil flow switch

while operating engine at over 3000 rpms, engine speed is reduced after buzzer sounds for 10 seconds... oil level in tank is lower than saftey level.

I would check your oil pump filter, and make sure your pumping water on both sides of the heads. You have a problem and if its not getting enough oil, your problem will be short lived...good luck..
