225 Pro XS Warning Alarm (Beep..Beep...Beep)

I noticed on another post from MUDSHARK who had a similar issue, that it was diagnosed as a short in #5 injector.

My alarm is doing the beep beep beep, and the motor will not do any more than 5000 rpm. I know, shouldn't be running it, but had no choice. I just added oil into the gas tank to get home without blowing the powerhead.

Is there a way that I can check for a short/open injector and fix myself? Nearest merc dealer is 2 hours away.

UPDATE: Diagnosis was a short in the #6 injector. $300 part, $200 labor.

There are DOZENS of potential causes for this warning. I would STRONGLY urge you to get it to the dealer, and have it placed on the Computer Diagnostic System.

Request PRINTOUTS of the:

-Run History
-Freeze Frame (Fault) History
-FAULT SECONDS Counters

Information contained in these reports will indicate what the ACTUAL fault was, or contain "data" that will lead to a successful diagnosis.

I would be more than happy to review the reports (by email) if necessary.

ALWAYS assume that a Warning Horn is functioning PROPERLY- indicating a CRITICAL problem, UNTIL, and UNLESS proven otherwise.

BTW... adding oil to the fuel with your Optimax doesn't really help anything....
