Big flutter spoons.
WHO here has actually caught a fish on one (in a lake around here).
Me? I've caught nothing but the bottom of the lake on one.

I think the new secret color is "A-Rig"..........
Spoons work great for schoolers....haven't done much more that that with them....
The big flutter spoons work great around here in the summer.
I caught a couple very nice sacks out of Degray and Ouachita last year using the big LFT's and Strike Kings both, also caught the biggest pickeral I've ever seen out of Degray on one.
IMHO, the shorty or Hopkin's spoon is a much better choice in the winter, due to the fact that you can vertically jig them better....I've had a couple 100+ fish days on Table Rock and Beaver vertically jigging a "slab baby" this time of year...
The flutter spoons are more effective by making long casting and ripping them through grass beds similar to the way you would a trap or one knocker.
This is why we love Eric. There's nuttin he aint done!!

They are good jigging on Degray during the winter. Just have to find the right spots and the right depths.![]()

I use the Hopkins spoons on Maumelle for vertical jigging in the winter. They're great in the channel bends when they're schooled up. You can have some of your best days of the year there in Feb.![]()
If the spoon's won't do the trick - I switch over to a shad colored fat albert grub on a ball head jig and really slow the presentation down.
