I heard that too. I boiled 3 sacks of craw-dads and 2 of them were out the basin and one out the ponds. I was told that there are plenty still out there and now that mothers Day is over they may come down in price even more. I paid $50 for a 40lb sack.

i understand how it could help as far as bringing more fresh water in, but there are a couple of things that make me believe that it will hurt it.

#1... The water is COLD in the river right now. May be cold enough to turn the crawfish off.

#2... I don't see how you can go crawfishing in the basin if the water is 5 - 20 feet higher than normal.

with that being said... if the water goes out as fast as it comes in and they only have to keep it open for 3-4 weeks or so, then this season may not be shot. Anything longer than that and this years major crawfish harvest will be done, as all the shells will be rock hard by then.

Maybe they are thinking this year the high water will flush the basin making it better for years to come

Dwayne you might wanna move to where Gun is. If that levee breaks that water is coming your way.
