06 225 ProXS Engine Temp Fluctuation

I took my 06 Puma with 225 ProXS out yesterday for the first time this year. It ran fine with no alarms, yet the engine temps seemed higher than I remember and fluctuated once full warmed up from 124 to 142. Is this normal? I seem to remember that it ran about 124 normally. WP seemed fine 20 PSI at WOT and about 5 PSI at idol.

Engine has 60 hours on it. Thermostats and water pump are still original

May want to change water pump to be safe, water pressure does seem fine though. If anything like my motor therostats open at 140 and 118 is normal running temp.. 5 psi or lower is good at idle..

Don had alot on his plate this morning.....

Your engine should have 130 degree thermostats. Engine temperature at IDLE speed should be in the 120-145 degree range (approximately).

"On-Plane" engine temps will vary dramatically, since the thermostats are no longer controling water flow (it's being controlled by the poppet valve).

I agree that, if you've not replaced your water pump in the last year, or 100 hours (whichever comes first).... DO IT NOW.
