    Anti Siphon valve question

Ok I have the straight type of antisiphon valve on my tank in my Sprint 207DC and when I took it off the fitting that is threaded into the tank and looked in it there was nothing there. Its completely open, just a metal tube!! Is that how they are supposed to look?? I mean it was like looking down a piece of pipe. Does anybody have a picture of what one of these looks like on the inside or a diagram? I am including the link to the type I have

    Thanks

Yes, according to ABC and USCG requirements, your boat SHOULD be equipped with an anti-siphon valve.

It's design is extremely simple. Looking inside the threaded end, you should see a "ball-bearing". It sits on a spring, which is visible from the "barbed" end.

That being said.... these valves are often removed in an effort to "rule out" issues with the anti-siphon valve. It's highly likely that the factory equipped unit was replaced with a "straight barb" at some point.

Wouldn't be a bad idea to look down inside the pickup tube.... I've seen them come apart, and drive the "ball" into the pickup tube threaded area.
