Rusty and friends. I'm the one with low rpm on the 94 200hp Johnson. (refer to "Rusty please help with rpm problem" on 9-28) I read in my shop manual that chipped, cracked or broken reed valves can cause the motor to run rough, pop, or backfire through the carb. stall during acceleration, and lose wide -open throttle speed. I have the rough running and the loss of top end speed. How can I tell if this is a possible problem. If it is, do you take the carbs off seperately or can you remove them on the intake manifold. Is this a difficult repair? Should I consider Boysen reeds if I attempt this? I have ordered 64 jets instead of 65's and am considering replacing the after market power pack also.![]()
